Sarah Milnor is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LISCW), having received her Masters in Social Work in 2016. At this time, Sarah was living in Portland, Maine, but has since moved to Massachusetts, and is excited about joining the team at Moving Forward Counseling Services. She received her Bachelors degree in Modern History and Art History in 2010 from the University of St Andrews, in St Andrews, Scotland.
Having worked as a Masters level clinician for five years, Sarah engages clients in a range of therapeutic modalities, though mainly utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Her focus has always been on listening to and validating clients, empowering them to come to their own understanding of what it is they need out of treatment, and supporting them throughout that process.
Sarah has worked with children, teens, and young adults for several years, both in residential and educational settings, both before and after receiving her Masters degree. She has spent the last three years working as a clinician at a community mental health clinic, where she gained experience treating clients of all ages with a wide range of mental health experiences.
Sarah has always enjoyed forming connections with others, and her primary goal in sessions is to find the right balance between supporting her clients, and pushing them to make the changes they have identified to live a more healthy and fulfilling life. She finds this work truly satisfying, and is looking forward to working with you or your loved one at Moving Forward Counseling.
